In recent years, environmental issues have become increasingly urgent and pressing, with the impacts of climate change and other environmental problems becoming more apparent. In response, the environmental movement has grown in size and scope, with a wide range of organizations and individuals working to address these challenges. FME is a relatively new strand of environmentalism that seeks to harness the power of markets and voluntary action to address environmental problems in a way that is efficient, effective, and respects individual liberties.

  • In Lesson 1, we will explore the fundamental concepts of FME. We will discuss the history and evolution of the movement, including its roots in free-market economics and classical liberal philosophy. We will explore the principles of FME, including the role of property rights, market incentives, and voluntary action in achieving environmental goals. We will also examine case studies and real-world examples of FME in action, demonstrating how these principles can be applied to a range of environmental issues.
  • In Lesson 2, we will take a more hands-on approach, focusing on how to put FME principles into action. We will discuss strategies for advocating for FME policies and initiatives, including how to effectively communicate the benefits of FME to a wide range of stakeholders. We will explore the challenges and criticisms of FME, and learn how to respond to these critiques with informed and persuasive arguments. Finally, we will develop practical skills for implementing FME policies and initiatives, including identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnerships with other stakeholders in the environmental field.
  • In Lesson 3, we will focus on practical steps you can take to advance FME in your community and beyond. We will provide actionable advice on how to make changes in your own life to have a positive environmental impact, as well as strategies for organizing and mobilizing your community to promote sustainability. We will explore how to engage with the private sector to promote sustainable practices and how to advocate for policy changes at the government level.
  • Finally, in lesson 4, you will learn all about SFL’s new #GreenLiberty FME campaign.

By the end of this module, you will have a bank of various activities to undertake with your club members and community, as well as a better understanding of the policies you can advocate for at your university or workplace to promote environmental sustainability. This module will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a better environmental advocate, community organizer, and agent for change.
